Phelps School names Evan Prybutok Head Soccer Coach
Evan Prybutok, who holds over a decade of successful experience at the NCAA Division I level, and is a staple in the Philadelphia/New Jersey soccer community, has been named the Head Soccer Coach at The Phelps School, President Stephany Fahey announced. Prybutok comes to Phelps after many successful years as an NCAA Division I Assistant Coach at Temple University, Manhattan College, La Salle University, and The University of Delaware. He also currently serves as a Scout for the Philadelphia Union MLS Academy.
“I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to lead the Phelps Soccer program. I would like to thank Stephany Fahey and the entire administration for this opportunity.
The school is a tremendous environment for students to positively grow and develop in all aspects of their lives while striving for success in all areas. Our soccer program and student-athletes will exemplify that. Phelp’s success with their basketball program over the last decade is a model we want to follow in producing championship teams and successful people, students, and athletes that go on to compete at the highest collegiate levels. I am excited to get started with our student-athletes this Fall in what will be our first year-round soccer program.”
Prybutok most recently spent the Fall 2021 season as the Assistant Coach at the University of Delaware. Prior to Delaware, from 2018 to 2021 he was the top Assistant Coach/Recruiting Coordinator at La Salle University. While there, he helped transform the Explorers into one of the top collegiate men’s soccer programs in the Philadelphia area. La Salle had one of their best seasons in recent memory in 2019 finishing 6th in the Atlantic 10 and advancing to the A10 Quarter-Finals followed by a 5th place finish in the Spring 2021 COVID Season. He was directly involved in recruiting and coaching several standout student-athletes that earned All-Conference and All-Region honors.
In 2016 and 2017 Prybutok served in the same position at Manhattan College in New York City, and played a major role in helping to turn the program around. The 2017 season was the best MAAC performance in program history, and overall the best team record in 25 years. The Jaspers finished with a 9-7-1 regular season record and top 4 MAAC finish.
Before Manhattan he was an Assistant Men’s Soccer Coach with Temple University from 2011 to 2016. While at Temple he was part of a staff that produced many successful teams, breaking into the Top 25 National Rankings, maintaining nationally ranked recruiting classes, and guiding several standout All-Conference, All-Region, and All-American Student-Athletes.
In 2010, he served as the first Head Men’s Soccer Coach of Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado where he started a brand new collegiate program culminating in a trip to the 2010 National Finals in Tyler, Texas.
In conjunction with his work at the college level Prybutok also serves as a Scout for the Philadelphia Union MLS Academy, and has been a Staff Coach at the Players Development Academy (PDA) in New Jersey for the past 10 years.
A nationally licensed coach, he holds his USSF National B Coaching License and NSCAA Premier Coaching Diploma. He played collegiately at the University of Massachusetts, graduating in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Management before obtaining his Masters in Education from Temple University in 2014.
