Joshua Pelkey – Director of Enrollment Management

Mr. Joshua Pelkey has been running at top speed since arriving on campus in June as our new Director of Enrollment Management. Mr. Pelkey brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to his key role in admissions. He served previously at two New England boarding schools as Director of International Student Recruitment, Associate Director of Admissions, and dorm parent, and as a host family coordinator and housing manager at EF (Education First) international language school. After graduating from The University of Vermont, Mr. Pelkey began his career as a residential instructor, music teacher, and Orton Gillingham (reading) tutor at The Pine Ridge School in Vermont. He’s put in a lot of miles overseas and earned a tremendous reputation in the boarding school world for his understanding of international students’ needs and interests.
Dr. Caroline Whitbeck – Senior Admissions Associate

Joining Mr. Pelkey is Senior Admissions Associate Dr. Caroline Whitbeck. An alumna of both single-sex and boarding schools, Mrs. Whitbeck holds degrees from Harvard University (A.B., Classics, summa cum laude), Brown University (M.F.A., Literary Arts), and the University of Pennsylvania (Ph.D., Comparative Literature). She has presented scholarly research and had her own book of poetry published during her years as a lecturer in the creative writing, critical writing, and comparative literature programs at Brown and Penn. She is excited to be taking on this new role on the admissions team at Phelps.
Thomas Corcoran – Admissions Associate

Mr. Tom Corcoran is the Admissions Associate for The Phelps School Admission Team. Tom graduated from the University of Pittsburgh and holds a J.D. from Widener University Commonwealth Law School. Prior to coming to Phelps, Tom worked as a political operative and campaign manager, rowing coach, and the middle school administrative assistant at The Agnes Irwin School. Born and raised in Philadelphia, Tom now lives in Drexel Hill with his wife, son, and chihuahua. Outside of Phelps, Tom enjoys getting to the boathouse as much as possible, hiking with his family, and and taking care of his vegetable garden.
